Earned Points / Gear Points - Loot Distribution System (submitted by Slade at 03:32pm EST)

The Sunwell EPGP Page can be found here.

A very detailed explanation of the system can be found here.

This is a relational point system. You don't spend the points you receive, rather it's the value of loot in comparison to the points you have earned. You earn Effort Points (EP) for attending raids, and you accrue Gear Points (GP) when you are awarded items. As a result, you are assigned a loot priority (PR) equal to EP / GP. Also, to stem inflation (among other things), EP and GP decay over time.

This should solve some of the problems associated with more traditional DKP systems. The overall goal of the system is to limit inflation while providing a fairly even distribution of loot that is reflective of the time people have put into raiding. New people should eventually get a shot at the best and most contested loot if they have solid raid attendance.

If we kill a boss, you get rewarded for it whether or not any loot is distributed. It encourages upgrading, but it doesn't prevent saving for a single item that you really want. You get the most bang for your buck by buying new gear as soon as you can, but you are free to save up and guarantee yourself a rare drop if you so choose.

All items are a fixed price. The exception is if people wish to get an item for an offspec. They are only allowed to roll if nobody else wants it (or if it's only others that want it for an off spec). If an item is upgraded or downgraded points can be adjusted even if you already have the item. Most of the cost comes from the item level and the slot it's for. You can download a mod that will add the cost to the item tooltip here:

Mod For Item Value in Tooltips

Earning Points
On time bonus: 150 - People should be in the raid and READY to raid 5 to 10 minutes before the posted start time.
Points per hour: 100
First Kill Bonus: 500 (on top of the normal boss points)

Par Bonus: We set clear time goals for zones we have on farm. This is done to both motivate and reward continuing to play well even after you have cleared a zone multiple times.

Hyjal: 2 hour or under clear 500 points.
Black Temple: 5 hour or under clear 1000 points.

This is simply a template. Points for first kills on very hard bosses, or on encounters that take an extremely long time to learn may vary.

Also if for some reason there are attendance issues bonus's may be given without prior notice for those that showed up.

Hyjal Summit
Rage Winterchill - 300

Decay
Both Earned Points and Gear Points decay at a rate of 7% per raid. This eliminates EP (DKP) hoarding. People should be upgrading their gear. Although you can save up points to go for one item you really want it isn't without it's downsides.

There will be a minimum EP you need to bid, so if you stop raiding for 2 weeks and then come back your ability to get items would be hampered until you were able to build up your points again.

Gems
There is no cost associated with the epic gems in Black Temple and Hyjal. Priority will be given to putting gems into gear that people have spent points for. Requests for gems are made on a sticky thread on our private forums.
